Objective:
To provide participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to perform welds using the electric arc welding technique with coated electrodes (SMAW). Participants will acquire the skills needed to properly handle welding equipment and tools, select the appropriate type of electrode, and perform quality welds on different materials and positions.
Course Outline:
- Introduction to electric arc welding with coated electrode (SMAW)
- Safety in SMAW welding: risks and preventive measures
- SMAW welding equipment and tools: types of equipment, components, and accessories
- Preparation of materials for welding: cleaning, cutting, and edge preparation
- Electrode selection and classification: types of electrodes, characteristics, and applications
- SMAW welding techniques: welding positions, arc striking and extinguishing techniques, adjusting welding parameters
- Visual inspection of welds: acceptance and rejection criteria
- SMAW welding practices on different positions and materials
- Maintenance and care of SMAW welding equipment and tools
- Regulations and quality standards in SMAW welding
Duration: This course is 20 hours long.
