Objective:
To provide participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to make cuts in different materials using the oxy-fuel cutting technique. Participants will acquire the skills needed to properly handle oxy-fuel cutting equipment and tools, select the appropriate type of gas and nozzle, and perform quality cuts on materials of varying thicknesses.
Course Outline:
- Introduction to oxy-fuel cutting: history and applications
- Safety in oxy-fuel cutting: risks and preventive measures
- Oxy-fuel cutting equipment and tools: types of equipment, components, and accessories
- Selection and classification of gases: types of gases, characteristics, and applications
- Types of nozzles and their selection: types of nozzles and their application based on gas type and material
- Preparation of material for cutting: cleaning, marking, and edge preparation
- Oxy-fuel cutting techniques: cutting positions, adjusting cutting parameters, ignition and shutdown techniques
- Visual inspection of cuts: acceptance and rejection criteria
- Oxy-fuel cutting practices on materials of different thicknesses
- Maintenance and care of oxy-fuel cutting equipment and tools
Duration: This course is 8 hours long.
